EMPLOYMENT GOAL:

To find a business or management career opportunity to use my experience in the retail, business consulting or writing field, preferably with administrative, marketing or creative opportunities. I have refined communications and interpersonal skills and make a good impression on people during face-to-face interactions.

PAST EMPLOYMENT:

  • Retail Management/Sales (July 2005-Sept. 2006): I have served for more than one year as a principle business partner and sales/marketing person for a $250,000 floral and artistic retail outlet with first-year projected sales of $250,000. This involved several months of budget, marketing, purchasing and public relations work in advance of opening, as well as hands-on experience in sales, customer interaction, major purchases and business contracts. I am also responsible for the conceptualization and graphics design of promotional advertisement materials.

  • Business/Nonprofit Executive Leadership and Consulting (June 1985-March 2005): I have worked for several years in top administrative positions for various Bay Area and statewide nonprofit agencies, most with a focus on young people, families and community services. I was fully engaged with financial management, bookkeeping, auditing, payroll and record keeping, as well as contract negotiations and monitoring. I am well-grounded in basic business and supervisory skills and have hands-on success in selling and promoting projects/products. Several projects have generated regional, national and international recogniztion.

  • Writing/Publishing (Ongoing): For several years I wrote nonprofit fundraising and program materials, which are similar to business plans and strategies. This included preparing budget, personnel and outreach/PR components and timelines. Most recently I have been writing as a Citizen Journalist and freelance writer for various online publications. Extensive edited and non-edited published pieces are available for review.
